Into the Chaos
This book of poetry represents years of learning and growth, both personally and creatively. As my poem "This Life" explains, "It's all true:/ the drowning dark of/ the heaviest night,/ the weightless light/ of the rising sky..." Poetry for me is about exploring life in all of its extremes. Over the last few years, I've done a lot of exploring over difficult ground, but I've come out of it stronger and wiser. Life is messy, but beautiful, and that truth is reflected in my poetry.
A Pantomime of Possibility
Poetry by its very nature is unhurried and watchful. These poems reflect years of playful imagining and magical realism. Life is one paradox after another, each moment an opportunity for self-discovery, for creating a new identity only to erase it and start over. So come in and commiserate, open up and disappear, find yourself and lose yourself in words...

Sound drowns in the silence. / There is no end to the sea. / (The forest is the sea’s dream.) / It is okay to drown here. / Where only earth speaks, / I am swallowed whole. / In the belly of the wooded beast, / I am birthed / —foreign, precious, / an oyster’s pearl.

I alone control the fire/ that lights my way./ It tingles like lightning,/ singes my hands,/ but it's mine to hold./ Blazing, I steal away/ into the night,/ a happy thief/ in possession of/ the secret of life.
