Ghost

Invisible, no one sees

the girl slowly dying

from acid eating

on the inside.

No one sees the woman

whose broken heart

no longer holds

her mind together.

No one hears the sigh

escaping silently

as she cuts the past

out of her wrists.

No one thinks to ask

the scars walking aimlessly

down her arms

if they can speak.

No one smells the sweat

singing of battles

she fought bravely

and lost.

No one can touch her face,

its wrinkled skin

belying the innocence

of her age.

Instead they see

a space where

she used to live

filled by a man

with rotten teeth

and a gentle smile,

who tells you about her,

but you don't believe.
